Copenhagen Flames expand with new Rocket League team

Sun 30th Oct 2016 - 9:35pm Gaming

We’re thrilled to announce that we're venturing into the competitive scene of Rocket League. We’ve acquired the former HyperioN eSport Rocket League team. The team consists of Lasse ”Fuzz” Geugjes, 23, Nicolaj “Bække” Bække, 21, and Oliver “Waffle” Winther, 15.

Rocket League is a bridge-builder

With this team, we're able to expand our organization further. We love to talk about taking steps, and this is yet another one in the right direction.

Copenhagen Flames owner, Steffen Thomsen, emphasizes on the organizations endeavors to build a bridge between regular sports fans and esports fans. Rocket League is the ideal game for this task.

“Rocket League is a fast-paced, entertaining and viewer-friendly game. It’s perfect for what we hope to achieve. The team is definitely the right fit for our organization. They convinced me through their clear-cut and positive communication in-game as well as their high level of play,“ the happy owner says.

Besides the three players, Oliver Hansen will work as the team's manager.

“Oliver had nothing but good things to say, when we finalized the agreement. Him joining as well is the perfect solution for us. The team ranks top 15 in Europe and has plenty of room to improve,” Steffen Thomsen continues.

“We can’t wait to show our fans what a great game Rocket League truly is. We hope that they'll cheer for and show the same kind of support for this team as they have shown our Overwatch team and Janos.”

Nothing but optimism

The Rocket League players are happy to join Copenhagen Flames and are excited about the future ahead.

“Being a part of Copenhagen Flames gives us a better opportunity to travel around the country and win tournaments. Even though more and more LANs with Rocket League emerge, it’s hard to participate in all of them, because we live in different parts of the country. It’s amazing that Copenhagen Flames see a lot of potential in us as a team and want to support us. Now, we can work together to reach our mutual goal of rising to the top of the Rocket League scene,” Lasse “Fuzz” Geugjes confidently says and continues in humorous fashion:

“And personally, I’m very proud to play for Copenhagen Flames. Copenhagen is my hometown. My hood.”

The former HyperioN eSports team have several great achievements on their resume. Together, they’ve won Power-LAN, an eSports Wall final versus Team FireWall and they’ve knocked the well-established Precision Z out of the Rocket League Championship Series.

“It was also a really cool experience to make the EU Power Rankings for the first time. At first, we were put on the list of ‘Teams To Watch’, but shortly afterwards, we made the top 15 multiple weeks in a row. It was awesome to get that kind of recognition!”

The Copenhagen Flames can’t wait to bring you much more Rocket League content and for the team to put on a show on the European Rocket League scene.
